Our
local "Avenue of Flags" is a beautiful display in honor of our deceased
local veterans, both VFW and Legion members. They are put out for display on
Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and additionally when occasion
calls for them. It's a stirring sight to see. The display, along with our
memorial to our veterans, is in the same area as the Fairfax Depot. You can find these interesting sights two blocks south of State Highway 19 in our business district. |

Memorial Park is Fairfax's Field
of Dreams - by Steve Palmer One of the best small-town baseball stadium complexes is Fairfax's Memorial Park. Built in 1946 and completed in 1948, Fairfax Memorial Park has had many renovations and improvements making it a first-class facility. Memorial Park was selected as Field of the Year in Minnesota by the Baseball Coaches Association in 1996. It was also chosen as a co-host site for the 2000 Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament. Numerous baseball promotions and events have been held at Memorial Park over the past years including appearances for games by the St. Paul Saints and celebrity autograph nights featuring former Minnesota Twins players. Memorial Park's "Field of Dreams" has done much to sustain baseball interest in the area and is indeed the pride of Fairfax. |
